Pete Seeger (94) passed away – his music and passion were the soundtrack of my childhood, and now my kids love him too. So familiar to me – like he’s part of our family.
No tears – only singing today. He once said that “there’s no such thing as a wrong note” – so sing my friends. Sing to honor this great, courageous, and compassionate man. America’s river singer.
He also said “songs won’t save the planet” – but his songs – his voice made a difference. They helped make our world more compassionate and more peaceful. And they’ll go right on making a difference as long as we keep singing them – as long as we carry his message of peace forward and teach it to our kids.
Three people are dead following a mass shooting at a mall in Columbia, Maryland. Howard County police are keeping the public updated.
Meanwhile, Mother Jones raises a great point with this recent tweet…
“@MotherJones: Mass shootings are on the rise—and ordinary citizens with guns don’t stop them, no matter what the NRA says http://t.co/BH2OVqtYpi”
Did I mention that there’s a gun & ammo shop, right there in the mall? Scaring the hell out of me – so-called sporting goods shop (Dicks) is right next to hubby’s Costco in the mall near us, and they sell guns & ammo.
My thoughts and prayers are with the family and friends as they bury their loved ones. And I condemn the murderous thugs at the NRA for bringing yet another tragedy to our doorsteps.
THE most defining challenge of this century. Perfectly said with one exception… It is easy to reverse climate destruction, once our leaders decide to make this life-threatening calamity a priority. –> “@worldresources: Reading – A united call for action on climate change (@TheElders) http://t.co/gfa9G1vFDa”
Hillary knows and admires many in this group of Elders. I’ve no doubt she would agree with this call to action. What do you think?
NASA’s put together a video timeline of Mother Earth, showing the increasing temperatures over the past 130 years.
This is what the industrial age has done to our planet. Until we learn to reduce, reuse, recycle and develop clean and renewable energy sources, this trend will continue until we have no clean water, no land capable of growing food, and seas so high that any community near a coastline will be under the sea.
Today marks the forty-first anniversary of the landmark SCOTUS decision in Roe v Wade. Forty one years… I don’t know about you, but I’m astonished (and frankly, more than a little disgusted) that we still need to fight for control over our own bodies.
Here, in the 21st century. I can’t imagine anyone around when Roe was decided ever dreamed we’d still be fighting this fight.
One of my favorite buttons from years ago says, “if men got pregnant, abortion would be a sacrament.”
Ever wonder how those celebrities stay in such fabulous shape? How they keep their skin looking perfect and smooth? It’s easy with a little digital surgery…
Real women don’t appear on magazine covers. They’re all fantasies and until we stop buying this trash, the advertising and publishing industries will keep peddling it.
Quick reminder of the double standards and sexist BS we had to deal with in 2008. Cleavage, short leash, cackle, nut crackers… these so-called men (and even one or two women) went after Hillary for being capable, strong and courageous.
Ever notice the way the attacks ramp up as you become more of a threat to these weenies? Folks, we need to be ready to fight back and HARD whenever someone trots out this hateful stuff.
In case you haven’t found your way over to this FABULOUS group yet…. Ready for Hillary is a great place to sign up for updates, find events in your area, and get awesome stuff to show the world that you’re READY!
I know it’s been a while since we’ve put much effort into this site (ok, any) but I thought I’d put up a quick post to see if anyone’s still visiting our little site.
